Safety, environmental protection and operational excellence are integral to our objectives of providing a high-quality service to our customers. ISO 9001:2015 is the standard for quality management in Fletcher Group. The overall quality objectives of our Management System are:

To provide safe and efficient vessels to our customers.
  • By compliance with all applicable regulatory standards and industry guidance
  • By operation of a robust Safety & Environmental Management System
  • By utilisation of industry marine assurance schemes, as well as implementation of our separate and unique company scheme

To provide competitive vessels to our target markets
  • By offering high quality vessels with proven track records

To maintain excellent working relationships with all our customers
  • By aiming for 100% uptime and prevention of situations where delivery of service is not achieved
  • By ongoing engagement with all our customers throughout the duration of all working partnerships

Health & Safety

We are committed to providing a working environment which is safe for all workers. This is achieved by complying with all relevant legal requirements and industry best practice to ensure that all risks which could arise from our activities are assessed and either eliminated or reduced as low as reasonably practicable. Safe systems of work are provided and maintained, and staff and contractors are trained to carry out their duties.

Environment

We recognise that we have a responsibility for the protection of the environment. We ensure all work processes are conducted with due regard to safeguarding the environment and have adopted best available techniques in order to minimise or eliminate harmful releases to air, land and water. We manage the environmental impact of our activities in compliance with relevant environmental legislation, and strive to go beyond these requirements whenever possible.

Staff Engagement

We actively encourage all of our people to involve themselves in all QHSE aspects of our operation by fostering an 'open door’ culture where every individual is able to freely discuss any ideas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement

We are committed to various policies of continuous improvement, following regulatory requirements and industry best practice. Through internal and external audits, regular review of our systems, experience transfer and training, we are fully committed to continuously maintain and improve our organisation. We actively participate with all clients, applicable industry bodies and other authorities in developing standards.

Company Marine Assurance Scheme

From our commitment to continuous improvement, we have developed and implemented a unique company scheme for marine assurance:

Ship handling
We recognise that our Masters and Senior Deck Officers should be competent ship handlers, and not just in DP mode. Our training programme requires a minimum number of certain operations, requiring both manual and DP ship handling, under varying weather conditions and light conditions. The system is first managed onboard, with satisfactory completion signed off by the Master. An individual does not obtain ‘green’ status until final satisfactory assessment by our own experienced Fleet Master. New hires into senior positions are externally assessed upon joining the vessel. Individuals are then subject to ongoing external assessment at set intervals.

Assurance Voyages
To coincide with our rigorous QHSE procedures and to support our crews on board all vessels, we have a designated Fleet Master who operates our Vessel Assurance system. Our Fleet Master works within the QHSE Department, supporting the onshore and offshore line organisation with the implementation and improvement of a multi-faceted management system. We have devised our own scope and reporting format from our experience with other industry schemes. This initiative helps to support the development of procedural enhancements based on our vigorous management system audit and review process. Our aim is for each vessel to undergo at least two assurance voyages per year, one per crew. During these voyages our Fleet Master is there to support the promotion of ISM code awareness and the implementation of the management system company wide.

Additional Training / Safety Coaching
We carry out additional training and safety coaching for all our sea going staff. This is conducted in their workplace onboard and helps to ensure the highest safety and environmental protection standards are in place.

Self-Management
Our unique self-management model for vessel budgets empowers our crews with a sense of ownership and results in more efficiency being realised. Vessels can identify and order a product or service from a pre-approved supplier and arrange delivery of the same direct to the vessel, all without the need to consult shore management. This greatly reduces the time between any requirement arising and the product or service arriving onboard. As well as the excellent gains in efficiency this model provides, the empowerment of our crews is reflected in the maintenance standards onboard, in the wider safety culture and on our continuous improvement.

Shore Management is not completely removed from the self-management model:

  • Vessel budgets are set in line with our years of experience of operating PSVs
  • Suppliers are pre-approved in line with our Quality Management System
  • Vessel budgetary performance is monitored with the vessel Regular vessel visits confirm the effectiveness of the system
