Fletcher Group is proud to be entering a team for this year's '24 Peaks Challenge' in support of Seafarers UK on the 6th and 7th of July this year.
The 24 Peaks Challenge is one of the most rewarding team-building events in the UK. The challenge is to climb 24 peaks in the Lake District, all over 2,400 feet, in 24 hours. Over two days, our team will be able to take in some of the most beautiful scenery in Cumbria whilst traversing over a 31-mile-long course which includes the infamous Scafell Pike: the highest peak in England. We have been told that team members will require an exceptional level of fitness and on top of that, determination, self-belief and team spirit to get them to the finish line. Might have to make some of the team members aware of these stimulations...!!
With such a demanding challenge comes exceptional reward, and we are delighted that this challenge is in aid of a cause especially close and relevant to our own business; Seafarers UK.
Seafarers UK is a charity that has been supporting people in the maritime community for over 100 years; providing vital support to seafarers in need. Not only do they support our national merchant navy personnel and their families, but Seafarers UK also contribute to international support providers such as the International Seafarers Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN).
Training is beginning to ramp up for the team, and there are always reminders to keep us motivated, especially the importance of supporting not only our own company seafarers but Seafarers on a wider note who without, our jobs and livelihood would not be possible.
One of our team members; Robbie Cook, has taken part in the challenge before and is not afraid to tell us all how tough the 2 days were: 'The challenge is no joke, from start to finish it was tough going, but the feeling of getting over the finish line on Sunday made it all worthwhile. I'm already looking forward to getting stuck in again this year'.
